Kevin Lowdon: Local music photographer

During the last week of May, we celebrate one of Bellingham’s main music photographers Kevin Lowdon.
The gallery show is a culmination of his two years shooting photos in the Bellingham music scene and part of his senior project at Western.  Having had his start at Make.Shift, it’s only fitting to host the show there. Two years ago, Make.Shift put out the call for a photography intern and Kevin got the gig with his first task shooting Yellingham. “That was a great way to start off,“ Kevin said with a laugh.
Since then, Kevin has gone full steam ahead, shooting whenever and wherever possible, gaining experience and fans along the way. Among the photos that will be on display are local favorites Wild Throne and The Palisades along with Uh Oh, Pickwick and 20 more Pacific Northwest bands. Of the photos, Kevin noted the smallest is actually his favorite – a close up shot of Mark Heimer from No-Fi Soul Rebellion at one of their last shows. As for his favorite local band, Kevin doesn’t hesitate. “It’s Wild Throne. Josh [Holland] doesn’t disappoint. It’s magical every time.”
The gallery show opens May 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Make.Shift, and will be on display through May 31. For more about him, follow his Facebook page at Kevin Lowdon Photography.
